Shooting During Busy Hours at Louisville Motor Vehicle Office
On Friday, a tragic shooting occurred at a motor vehicle office in Louisville, Kentucky, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, as confirmed by local police authorities.
Maj. Donald Boeckman of the Louisville Metro Police Department reported that officers discovered a deceased male victim at the scene. In addition, two women who were injured in the incident succumbed to their injuries after being transported to local hospitals. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat.
Local news outlet WDRB specified that the male victim was confirmed to be the person who died at the scene, while both women were reported to have passed away later in medical care.
As of now, law enforcement has not made any arrests, and details regarding the shooter or any potential suspects remain sparse. Maj. Boeckman noted that eyewitnesses reported the suspect or suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, but he did not provide any description of that vehicle. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage for further leads.
Maj. Boeckman expressed shock regarding the incident, stating, “It’s absolutely a tragedy and I’m surprised there weren’t more people injured.” He also indicated that the police are still unclear about any connections between the victims, although some reports suggest that the deceased women may have been the children of the male victim.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear took to social media platform X to address the situation, stating, “A senseless act of violence outside of a regional driver licensing office on Dixie Highway in Louisville has taken the lives of three people. This is an ongoing situation, and we will share more information as available.”
In his statement, Governor Beshear also expressed gratitude toward law enforcement and those present at the facility who aided in the response to the incident. He added, “Let’s pray for the family members of those lost during this difficult time.”
