Tina Knowles is set to embark on a nine-city tour this spring to promote her forthcoming memoir titled Matriarch, which will be released on April 22.
The official launch event for the book will occur in Washington, D.C. on April 30, featuring former First Lady Michelle Obama as the moderator for a conversation with Knowles. “I’m still pinching myself that our Forever First Lady @michelleobama is kicking it off with me,” Knowles expressed through an Instagram post, hinting at additional exciting news regarding the event. She further stated her eagerness to share her story, with hopes of encouraging others to reflect on their own journeys.
The tour, titled Matriarch: An Evening with Tina Knowles, Family and Friends, will include stops in cities such as Los Angeles, Houston, Atlanta, New Orleans, Toronto, Chicago, and Brooklyn, concluding with an international date in London. Tickets for the U.S. performances will go on sale on March 21 at 10 AM local time, while tickets for the Toronto and London legs will be made available on the same day at 2 PM GMT.
As detailed in a synopsis for Matriarch, Knowles shares her experiences growing up as a spirited young girl in Galveston, Texas, navigating various challenges including grief, creative risks, and the upbringing of her renowned daughters, Beyoncé and Solange. The memoir aims to portray a rich family narrative that resonates with the broader context of American life and highlights the invaluable wisdom shared between women across generations.
Support for Knowles’ memoir has come from her family, including a heartfelt message from her daughter, Beyoncé. “Mama, I couldn’t be prouder,” Beyoncé wrote on social media, praising her mother’s dedication to the book and encouraging her to share her story. She humorously added a request for her mother to keep some stories private. Beyoncé is also slated to start her own tour this April in support of her Grammy-winning album.
Knowles’ “bonus daughter,” Kelly Rowland, has also expressed excitement about Matriarch. “I can’t wait for everyone to get their hands on it!” Rowland shared on Instagram, emphasizing the inspirational and relatable nature of the stories Knowles will include, and conveying her pride in the author.
