The Tony Awards Administration Committee convened today to finalize the eligibility status of eight Broadway productions for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. This marks the committee’s third meeting this season to evaluate submissions for the 78th Annual Tony Awards. Previous eligibility decisions can be reviewed in earlier announcements, with an expectation for the final eligibility results to be revealed later this month.
The eligibility cut-off date for all Broadway productions seeking consideration in the 2024-2025 season is set for Sunday, April 27, 2025, provided they meet all requisite criteria. The nominations for the 2025 Tony Awards will be publicly announced on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
The productions evaluated during today’s meeting included: English, Redwood, Purpose, Buena Vista Social Club, Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical, Othello, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and Glengarry Glen Ross.
Eligibility Determinations by the Committee:
– Jason Ardizzone-West (Scenic Design) and Hana S. Kim (Video Design) are jointly recognized as eligible for the Best Scenic Design of a Musical category for their contributions to Redwood.
– David Cumming is eligible for nomination in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical category for his role in Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical.
– Natasha Hodgson is also designated as eligible for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical category for her work in Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical.
– The Picture of Dorian Gray is considered eligible for the Best Play category, with Oscar Wilde and Kip Williams acknowledged as co-authors.
– In the Best Scenic Design of a Play category, Marg Horwell (Scenic Design) and David Bergman (Video Design) are jointly recognized for their designs in The Picture of Dorian Gray.
– Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk, and Bill Burr are each recognized as eligible candidates in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play category for their performances in Glengarry Glen Ross. All other eligibility considerations will align with the official opening night credits.
The 78th Annual Tony Awards is scheduled to return to the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 8, 2025. The event will be broadcast live, airing from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET (5:00 PM to 8:00 PM PT) on the CBS Television Network, with options for streaming available on Paramount+ for subscribers.
