Experience Points
Matt Dinniman’s The Gate of the Feral Gods, the fourth installment in his popular Dungeon Crawler Carl litRPG series, has made an impressive entry into the hardcover fiction list, landing at #6. Ace began re-releasing this self-published series in August, and the early sales have shown promising growth.
In Clubland
Debuting at #2 on our hardcover nonfiction list, The Tell has been selected as an Oprah’s Book Club recommendation. In this compelling narrative, venture capitalist Amy Griffin shares her journey of healing through MDMA-assisted therapy, revealing the childhood traumas that impacted her emotional wellbeing despite her professional achievements. The book’s launch event in New York City on March 11 attracted a star-studded crowd, featuring Winfrey alongside prominent figures like Reese Witherspoon and Jenna Bush Hager.
Meta’s Fiction
At #4 on our hardcover nonfiction list is Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams, a former Facebook executive who has emerged as a whistleblower. In this candid account of her time at the company currently known as Meta, she offers a critical perspective on its corporate culture. Flatiron Books announced the release just six days prior to its launch on March 11, which coincided with Meta’s efforts to restrict her promotional activities through arbitration. Washington Post book critic Ron Charles highlighted the paradox of a company that has previously claimed to champion free speech now attempting to silence its former employee, calling out CEO Mark Zuckerberg in the process.
The Body Keeps the Score
Things We Never Got Over author Lucy Score has topped our trade paperback list with Story of My Life, the inaugural title in her new Story Lake rom-com series. Our starred review describes the book as an “endearing tale of second chances,” noting its blend of humor, heartwarming moments, and affirmations of life. Her recent tour was a resounding success, including sold-out events in places like Concord, New Hampshire, where 700 fans gathered at the Capitol Center for the Arts, and St. Peters, Missouri, with 400 attendees at the Spencer Road Library, organized in collaboration with Main Street Books. The tour also featured a warm gathering at Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park, Washington, further enhancing her connection with readers.
