Pentagon Leadership in Turmoil: Ullyot’s Stern Warning
John Ullyot, who recently stepped down as the chief spokesperson for the Pentagon, has raised serious concerns regarding the future of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, predicting his imminent departure from the post.
Ullyot, drawing from his extensive experience in various roles within the Trump administration, asserts that the situation has devolved into chaos, with “bombshell” revelations about Hegseth and the Pentagon expected in the near future.
“This past month has been one of utter disarray within the Pentagon,” Ullyot expressed in an editorial for Politico. “With leaked operational plans and numerous high-profile dismissals, the dysfunction is proving to be a significant distraction for the president, who certainly deserves better guidance from his senior officials.”
Hegseth has faced intense scrutiny following revelations that he allegedly disseminated classified information outside official channels, particularly through the Signal messaging app.
Last month, it was discovered that National Security Advisor Michael Waltz had inadvertently included a journalist in a Signal group chat crowded with top officials, Hegseth among them, where sensitive military strike details concerning Yemen were discussed.
In a recent report by The New York Times, it was revealed that Hegseth operated a separate, personal Signal chat that facilitated the sharing of sensitive information with his family and close associates.
Moreover, he allegedly permitted his wife to attend private meetings with international military officials and, according to reports, had planned to inform Elon Musk about military strategies in the event of a potential conflict with China, which President Trump cancelled upon learning of it.
Following these incidents, three senior officials have been dismissed from the Pentagon amid ongoing investigations into these leaks.
Ullyot described this series of events as a “strange and baffling purge” that has led to a near collapse in the Pentagon’s leadership structure.
“Under Hegseth’s guidance, the organization is experiencing dysfunction,” Ullyot noted, characterizing the last few weeks as “total chaos” and labeling them as the “month from hell.” Although he expresses strong support for Hegseth, he acknowledges that the current state of affairs indicates a “full-blown meltdown” within the Pentagon.
“President Trump has a long-standing record of holding his senior officials accountable,” Ullyot wrote. “In light of this, it is difficult to envision Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth retaining his position for much longer.”
Ullyot also hinted at the likelihood of further revelations. “Expect more significant developments soon, as key Pentagon journalists have indicated privately that additional bombshell stories are forthcoming this week,” he stated.
