Toronto Ultra Revamps Roster with European Stars
Multiple reports suggest that Toronto Ultra is in the process of finalizing their roster for the upcoming Call of Duty League season centered around Black Ops 6, with the addition of two notable European players.
On September 20, news broke that Toronto Ultra completed the transfer of Thomas ‘Scrappy’ Ernst and Dylan ‘Envoy’ Hannon to the LA Thieves. This move leaves Ultra needing to fill two critical roles—a new Assault Rifle player and a Submachine Gun player—after the departure of their key talent.
Once the agreements are finalized, Ultra will feature an exciting lineup that includes Dan ‘Ghosty’ Rothe and, pending contract signings, Paco ‘HyDra’ Rusiewiez. This combination is already being hailed as one of the strongest in the league.
According to reports, Ultra now has a bit more flexibility in their budget, which positions them well to pursue new signings. Sources indicate that the LA Thieves and Toronto Ultra reached a consensus regarding the transfer of Scrappy and Envoy.
To fill the void left by Scrappy, Toronto Ultra has reportedly signed Ben ‘Beans’ McMellon. Beans has had a fluctuating presence in the league over the past few seasons but has demonstrated potential. He aims to prove his worth and shine on a more competitive team in 2025.
In terms of Envoy’s replacement, Ultra is focused on acquiring José ‘ReeaL’ Fernández from the Miami Heretics. ReeaL had an impressive rookie season, particularly showcasing his skills at the 2024 Esports World Cup where he posted a 1.15 kill-death ratio and had key moments in critical matches.
The young Spanish player has faced ups and downs early in his competitive career but aims to achieve greater reliability with Toronto. This aligns with Ultra’s strategic approach, as earlier in 2024, their parent company, OverActive Media, acquired the Spanish esports organization KOI. This acquisition signifies their commitment to enhancing their Spanish identity and expanding their fanbase in that region.
