Pochettino Expresses Desire to Return to Tottenham Hotspur
Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed a strong desire to return to the club in the future. The Argentine, who led Spurs from 2014 until 2019, recalls fondly his time with the team, noting the significant achievements during his tenure, including a second-place finish in the Premier League in 2016 and a memorable run to the 2019 Champions League final.
After parting ways with Tottenham in November 2019, Pochettino took on roles at Paris St-Germain and Chelsea. He is currently serving as the head coach of the United States national team, a role he assumed in September. Despite his busy schedule, the prospect of a return to Spurs remains close to his heart.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Pochettino reflected on his past statements regarding a possible return. “When I left the club, I always remember one interview where I mentioned my desire to come back to Tottenham one day,” he said. “Even after these years apart, I still feel that deeply in my heart. Yes, I would like one day to come back.”
Despite his departure, Pochettino maintains a strong bond with Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy. He emphasized that their professional relationship remains solid. “After nearly six years filled with highs and lows, it was a challenging situation. However, we parted on good terms. Our professional relationship is distinct from our personal connection, and we have continued to maintain a very positive rapport since I left Tottenham,” he commented.
This openness to return, combined with the enduring relationship with Levy, suggests that Pochettino still feels a deep connection to Tottenham. As he continues his journey coaching the U.S. national team, the whispers of a return to Spurs may resonate among fans who remember his impactful tenure.
