‘100 Foot Wave’ Season 3 Set to Premiere on Max
Fans of extreme sports are eagerly awaiting the launch of the third season of ‘100 Foot Wave’ on Max. The series, helmed by Emmy-winning director Chris Smith and featuring the talents of Emmy, Golden Globe, and Tony award winner Joe Lewis as executive producer, will debut on Thursday, May 1 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Following the premiere, new episodes will continue weekly on Thursdays at the same time on HBO, with streaming available on Max.
This season, ‘100 Foot Wave’ delves into the adventures of renowned big wave surfer Garrett McNamara, along with his wife Nicole and their children. The series also highlights the experiences of fellow surfers including Andrew “Cotty” Cotton, CJ Macias, Justine DuPont, Lucas “Chumbo” Chianca, Nic von Rupp, Kai Lenny, Pedro “Scooby” Vianna, Tony Laureano, Ian Cosenza, and Michelle des Bouillons, among others.
Expanding its narrative beyond the famed cliffs of Nazaré, Portugal—where McNamara made history by setting a big wave record in 2011—the series will take audiences to new breathtaking surf spots. These include the remote Cortes Bank in the Pacific, Safi in Morocco, Montaldo in Italy, and the historic O’ahu, Hawaii for the prestigious Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational.
The engaging documentary series captures the intense experiences of these surfers, portraying their relentless dedication and passion for the sport. Viewers can expect an intimate look at both the exhilarating highs and the daunting lows of the athletes’ journeys—navigating personal fears, facing substantial challenges, and making pivotal life decisions.
