Icelandair Expands Service to Miami, Connecting Florida to Europe
Traveling from Florida to Europe just became more accessible with Icelandair’s announcement of a new route connecting Miami, Florida, to Reykjavík, Iceland. This service is set to commence on October 25, 2025, operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, continuing seasonally through March 2026.
What makes this launch particularly appealing is the connectivity it offers. Miami travelers will have the opportunity to seamlessly transfer in Reykjavík to various Icelandair flights, opening access to major European cities such as Berlin, Paris, Rome, and Zurich. Notably, Icelandair’s unique stopover program allows passengers to enjoy a brief stay in Iceland—without any additional airfare—before continuing their journey. For instance, a traveler could take a flight from Miami to Reykjavík, enjoy a two-night stay, and then proceed to Paris.
Bogi Nils Bogason, the President and CEO of Icelandair, highlighted the benefits of this new route, stating, “With the new long-range and fuel-efficient Airbus aircraft, we are able to add new and exciting destinations, and Miami is a great addition. Miami will fit well into our route network, with convenient connections via Iceland to our 34 destinations in Europe.”
Miami International Airport, recognized as one of the busiest travel hubs globally, is emblematic of the region’s allure as a tourist destination. The World Travel Awards has honored Miami Beach as America’s Leading City Destination, celebrated for its stunning seven miles of scenic beaches and its distinction of housing the world’s largest number of art deco buildings. Additionally, Miami is home to many luxurious accommodations, including the renowned Fontainebleau hotel.
In a broader context, Icelandair continues to expand its footprint in the United States. The airline recently announced a partnership with Southwest Airlines, facilitating interline connections from various gateway cities such as Baltimore and Nashville to Iceland. This collaboration enhances the travel experience, allowing passengers to explore more of Europe following their arrival in Iceland.
