Japan Airlines Expands U.S. Flight Connections for Summer 2025
Japan Airlines is set to significantly enhance its air travel options to the United States over the upcoming summer season, facilitating easier access to Japan for travelers.
Beginning May 31, 2025, the airline will introduce a direct flight linking Tokyo Narita International Airport (NRT) with Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD). This service will be in partnership with American Airlines as part of their codeshare agreement. Tickets for this new route will be available for purchase starting February 12, with the flight duration expected to be approximately 12 hours.
In addition to the new Chicago route, Japan Airlines is increasing its service to several West Coast destinations in response to the growing demand for travel between Japan and North America. The following routes have been scheduled throughout the summer:
- Tokyo Narita (NRT) to San Diego (SAN): Daily from March 30 to October 25
- Osaka (KIX) to Los Angeles (LAX): Daily from July 18 to October 25
- Osaka (KIX) to Honolulu (HNL): Daily from July 18 to October 25
- Nagoya (NGO) to Honolulu (HNL): Daily from July 18 to October 15
- Tokyo Narita (NRT) to Honolulu (HNL): Twice-daily flights during July
As of now, it remains uncertain whether these flight services will carry over into the winter schedule, which is anticipated to be announced later in June 2025.
Additionally, travelers can look forward to Japan Airlines operating the A350-1000 aircraft to Los Angeles (LAX) during the summer period. This modern aircraft boasts a range of amenities, including a first-class cabin equipped with a double bed, fully private business class suites, an enhanced premium economy section, and a commendable economy class setup.
Osaka has been highlighted as one of the top 50 travel destinations for 2025, making this summer an optimal time for travelers to explore this vibrant city, especially with convenient daily flights from both Los Angeles and Honolulu.
