Travis Scott Fights Trespassing Charges Amid Marina Incident
Travis Scott is seeking to move past his June arrest by requesting that a judge dismiss his trespassing charges, arguing that the marina where the incident occurred did not post visible “No Trespassing” signs.
In a motion submitted by Scott’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, on Tuesday, it was asserted that the rapper should not be held accountable for trespassing following an altercation with yacht staff in Miami. According to Scott’s legal team, the absence of clear warning signs at the marina itself undermines the trespassing claim.
While there were reportedly signs on adjacent private property, Scott’s attorneys contend that those should not apply to his presence at the marina. They argue that the legal basis for the trespassing charge is weakened by the location of Scott’s arrest, which took place in a private parking lot rather than directly at the Miami Beach Marina.
Scott’s legal troubles began in June when he was initially arrested on two charges after an alleged dispute at the marina. Reports indicate that authorities instructed him to vacate the area, but he returned shortly thereafter, leading to claims of belligerence.
As a result, he faced charges for trespassing and disorderly intoxication. However, the disorderly intoxication charge has since been dropped by prosecutors.
Currently, Scott’s trespassing trial is scheduled for September. The outcome of his motion to dismiss the charges will be closely monitored as the case progresses.
