Triptii Dimri Reflects on Early Challenges in Film Career

Triptii Dimri, who made her mark in Bollywood with her role in *Laila Majnu*, recently opened up about the struggles she faced during her debut film. In an interview with Filmfare, she shared that her lack of formal training in acting left her feeling lost on set, often leading to emotional moments.

Dimri explained how her journey began without the foundational knowledge typically acquired through acting school. “I hadn’t studied acting by then. I had to go through workshops with Mukesh Chhabra for 5-6 days before I could even begin to shoot,” she recounted. The initial shoot took place in Kashmir, where she grappled with technical jargon that was unfamiliar to her. “Before shooting, I didn’t even know the meanings of terms like DOP and POV. It felt like I was missing a crucial part of the conversation,” she admitted.

Her experience in the workshops was equally daunting. “Even during the workshop, while Avinash and Sajid sir discussed character depth and backstory, I sat there confused, thinking, ‘What pain? What are they talking about?’ I was overwhelmed and sometimes went home in tears, questioning if I had made the wrong decision by choosing to act,” she reflected, highlighting her vulnerability.

Dimri also faced significant pressure as her character required a deep emotional commitment. “This film necessitated a good actor. There were scenes that demanded me to cry and embody Laila fully. I realized I couldn’t just be myself and needed to immerse into the character,” she noted. The complexity of acting became evident as she struggled to shift from her personal identity to that of her role.

Following the initial shooting schedule, she sought further growth through another workshop. However, her tardiness on the first day resulted in a stern lesson from the workshop leader, Saurabh Sachdeva. “When I arrived late due to traffic, he told me that discipline is essential, and he didn’t allow me to join the session. It was a tough moment but one that reinforced the importance of commitment in this profession,” she shared.

Dimri’s candid reflections shed light on the challenges faced by newcomers in the film industry. Her journey emphasizes that the path to becoming a proficient actor often involves navigating unfamiliar territory while confronting self-doubt. Today, as she continues to rise in her career, her early experiences serve as a reminder of the dedication required to succeed in acting.
