In a significant move aimed at enhancing national security, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the immediate termination of all current memberships on its advisory committees. This decision was articulated by DHS spokesperson Huffman, who emphasized a renewed focus on prioritizing national security resources.
“In alignment with our commitment to eliminating the misuse of resources, I am directing the termination of all current memberships on advisory committees within DHS, effective immediately,” Huffman stated. He further outlined that future committee activities will be exclusively centered on advancing the DHS’s critical mission to protect the homeland and to bolster its strategic priorities.
Huffman acknowledged the contributions of outgoing advisory board members, suggesting they may reapply for committee positions in the future, thus recognizing their service while also marking a shift in the department’s operational dynamics.

The Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB), a panel established under the Biden administration, includes several key figures in the field of cybersecurity, highlighting a blend of expertise aimed at addressing contemporary cyber threats. Among its members is Chris Krebs, the former head of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), who was notably ousted from his position towards the conclusion of the Trump presidency. The board also features Dmitri Alperovitch, co-founder of CrowdStrike and a well-respected cybersecurity author and investigator, along with Rob Joyce, a prominent U.S. security advisor.
This reshaping of the DHS advisory landscape reflects an overarching strategy to streamline operations and focus resources where they are deemed most necessary, signaling a pivotal moment in the department’s approach to cybersecurity and national safety initiatives.
