In a recent interview with The Atlantic, President Donald Trump shared insights about his current term, asserting that he now oversees not just the nation but also has a significant influence globally.

“During my first term, my focus was divided—I had to manage the government while also navigating a slew of dishonest individuals,” he noted. “In this term, I perceive my role as more expansive, involving leadership on the world stage.”

“I’m experiencing a lot of enjoyment in my current role, considering the seriousness of my responsibilities,” Trump remarked during the discussion.

Prior to the interview, Trump revealed on Truth Social that he would be engaging with Jeffrey Goldberg from The Atlantic, highlighting his motivation of “curiosity.”

On January 20, 2025, President Trump attended a signing ceremony at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.

The Atlantic noted that observations from both inside the White House and among the public indicate that Trump appears to be enjoying his second term more than the first.

In his conversation, Trump also addressed the role of the media and prominent tech entrepreneurs, including Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos.

“He’s been remarkable. I appreciate what Bezos has done,” Trump expressed. “Zuckerberg’s been beneficial as well,” he added.

Discussing the broader media landscape, Trump mentioned a point at which media owners might decide to step back, with reporters suggesting his comments were particularly aimed at Bezos.

Trump previously complimented Bezos for implementing significant changes at the Post, acknowledging the efforts made during a late-March conversation.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to respecting Supreme Court decisions, responding to critiques regarding his adherence to judicial rulings.

“It’s essential to follow those directives,” he specified.
