Donald Trump’s Annual Physical Exam Results Unveiled
The health assessment of President Donald Trump, conducted by the White House, has revealed that the President is in “excellent” health. The results of his annual physical were made public after he completed the examination, marking the first of his second term.
Trump underwent the five-hour examination at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland under the supervision of Dr. Sean Barbabella. Following the comprehensive evaluation, Trump noted that he underwent a variety of tests.
Dr. Barbabella’s report affirmed that “President Trump exhibits excellent cognitive and physical health and is fully fit to execute the duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.” This evaluation comes amid ongoing discussions about the mental acuity of both Trump and his political rival, former President Joe Biden, particularly as they prepare for the 2024 presidential race.
Trump himself expressed confidence post-exam, asserting, “Overall, I felt I was in very good shape,” highlighting what he described as “a good heart, a good soul, a very good soul.” Interestingly, he is currently the oldest individual to assume the presidency, taking office at 78 years old.
In addition to his cognitive evaluations, Dr. Barbabella measured Trump’s height at six feet, three inches and his weight at 224 pounds, which corresponds to a body mass index (BMI) of 28—classified as “overweight.” It is worth noting that BMI has often faced criticism as a sole indicator of health and obesity, as per insights from Yale Medicine.
There have been longstanding allegations regarding Trump’s honesty about his weight. In 2015, a letter from Dr. Harold Bornstein characterized Trump as being in “extraordinary health,” though Bornstein later revealed in a CNN interview that Trump had dictated the letter himself. “I didn’t write that letter,” Bornstein stated. “I just made it up as I went along.”
Past discussions about Trump’s weight resurfaced in 2018 when Dr. Ronny Jackson reported it as 239 pounds, a claim that drew skepticism on social media platforms where comparisons with other athletes’ weights and heights were made, as noted by New York Magazine.
In 2023, following his booking into Fulton County Jail, Trump self-reported a weight of 215 pounds, further prompting public ridicule and debate surrounding his claims regarding his physique.
During the recent examination, Trump was found to have a resting heart rate of 62 beats per minute and a blood pressure reading of 128/74, indicating a generally normal cardiovascular status, as per guidelines from the American Heart Association.
Dr. Barbabella’s examination also confirmed that there were “no significant abnormalities” in Trump’s ear, nose, and throat exam, aside from scarring on the right ear from an assassination attempt in July.
Currently, Trump is prescribed two medications for cholesterol management: rosuvastatin and ezetimibe, with his total cholesterol level reported at 140 mg/dl, which is noted as “optimal.” All other lipid levels, including triglycerides and both forms of cholesterol, were also within normal ranges. Additionally, Trump is taking aspirin and utilizing mometasone cream for a dermatological issue.
Attending to his medical history, Trump has experienced “well-controlled” high levels of LDL cholesterol, a previous COVID-19 infection, and has been noted to have a benign colon polyp.
