As President Donald Trump approaches the landmark of 100 days in office, recent polling indicates a decline in his approval ratings, raising concerns among Americans about his bold efforts to reshape the government.
Three polls released on Sunday reveal a majority of respondents disapprove of Trump’s presidency. His approval ratings fluctuate between 39% and 45%, marking the lowest figures for any newly elected president at this point in their term in over seventy years, according to CNN.
A recent Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll reported that only 39% of U.S. adults approve of Trump’s presidency, while a CNN/SSRS poll records a 41% approval rate. The NBC News Stay Tuned Poll shows a slightly higher approval at 45%.
These figures contrast sharply with the spike in Trump’s favorability ratings seen when he returned to office in January.

Public confidence in Trump’s economic management appears to be eroding—a central focus of his 2024 presidential campaign. His aggressive tariff policies have contributed to fluctuations in financial markets.
The CNN/SSRS poll shows that only 52% of U.S. adults trust Trump to manage the economy, reflecting a significant 13-point decrease since December.
The Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll highlights that nearly 72% of Americans believe it is ‘very’ or ‘somewhat’ likely that Trump’s economic policies will lead to a recession in the near future.
According to the NBC News poll, a majority of Americans disapprove of Trump’s management of trade and tariffs (61%) and are dissatisfied with his handling of inflation and the cost of living (60%).
Additionally, confidence in Trump’s ability to address immigration—a pivotal issue during his campaign—has diminished. The CNN poll reports only 45% approval on this front, down significantly from 60% in December.
Approval ratings split dramatically along party lines, with most Republicans supporting Trump while the majority of Democrats express disapproval.
Among independent voters—an essential group Trump narrowly lost in the previous election—58% disapprove of his presidency, as reported by the Washington Post.
