Investigations Underway Following Explosive Incidents Involving Turo Vehicles

A recent explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck in Las Vegas has raised concerns, particularly due to its connection with a rented vehicle used in a violent attack in New Orleans. Both vehicles were arranged through Turo, a platform that facilitates vehicle rentals by private owners.

According to reports from ABC News, law enforcement sources have indicated that the Cybertruck involved in the Las Vegas explosion was indeed rented through Turo, paralleling the circumstances of the vehicle used in the New Orleans attack.

The Associated Press has corroborated this information, mentioning that a law enforcement official confirmed the rental details.

Turo, which permits individuals to rent out their automobiles, expressed its dismay regarding the use of its platform for such incidents. In a statement to Business Insider, the company acknowledged their involvement: “We are heartbroken to learn that one of our host’s vehicles was involved in this awful incident. We are actively partnering with the FBI. We are not currently aware of anything in this guest’s background that would have identified him as a trust and safety threat to us at the time of the reservation.”

As of now, Turo has not provided further comments regarding the Cybertruck incident in Las Vegas.

During a press briefing, President Joe Biden highlighted that investigators are looking into the potential links between the two explosive events. He conveyed the gravity of the situation, urging a thorough investigation.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Sheriff Kevin McMahill provided details during the press conference, stating that the driver of the Cybertruck lost their life and seven other individuals sustained injuries from the blast that occurred outside the renowned Trump International Hotel. McMahill noted the seriousness of the circumstances, “We’re very well aware of what has happened in New Orleans with the event that occurred there, and the number of victims there and the additional IEDs. So, as you can imagine, with an explosion here on iconic Las Vegas Boulevard, we are taking all of the precautions that we need to take to keep our community safe.”

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk responded to the incident on social media, attributing the explosion to “very large fireworks and/or a bomb” that was located in the Cybertruck’s bed.
