Twitch Viewership Sees Seasonal Dip in March 2025
StreamElements has released its latest State of the Stream report for March 2025, revealing significant insights into Twitch’s performance during the month. While the platform experienced a decline in viewership, this downturn is typical for the season, indicating a stable environment rather than a cause for concern according to the analytics presented by StreamElements.
The collaborative report with Rainmaker.gg documented a total of 1.68 billion hours watched on Twitch in March, an increase from February’s 1.59 billion hours. However, this rise can be primarily attributed to the additional days in March compared to February. When analyzing daily averages, March recorded around 54 million hours watched, slightly lower than the 57 million observed in both January and February. Notably, this marks the fourth consecutive year of March viewership dropping in comparison to earlier months, as highlighted by Rainmaker.gg.
In examining the top streamers for March, Caedral emerged as the standout, largely due to his coverage of the EMEA Masters and competitive matches involving the League of Legends team Los Ratones. Additionally, the game Monster Hunter Wilds made its debut, securing the 9th position on the list of the most-watched categories, while slightly affecting the ranking of Marvel Rivals.
StreamElements CEO Or Perry provided insight into the viewership trends, stating, “Understanding the streaming landscape goes beyond just watching numbers rise and fall. On Twitch, factors such as significant esports events and seasonal timing can influence the perceived strength or weakness of specific months. Without a clear understanding of these elements, one might easily misinterpret what a peak or dip signifies for the platform.”
