A Twitch streamer experienced a startling moment during a live broadcast when a major accident occurred at a drag race, involving two high-speed vehicles.
The popularity of IRL (In Real Life) streaming has surged, with motorsports events becoming a favorite for viewers seeking exhilarating content. Streamers share their experiences by broadcasting from various events, including drag races and Formula 1 shows, and often capture real-time moments that create engaging or unexpected scenarios.
On this occasion, streamer TheStonedVet was live from a local drag racing event when disaster struck as two high-performance Mustangs competed against each other.
Twitch streamer witnesses dramatic drag race accident
In the now widely circulated footage, the two Mustang dragsters took off together, but it became clear that one of the cars was losing control shortly into the race. The vehicle in the left lane collided with the other, resulting in both cars crashing violently into a track barrier.
The impact sent the left car careening into the right one, which caused further destruction as both vehicles slammed against the wall at tremendous speeds. Notably, one of the cars veered off the track, hitting the barrier again.
Witnesses immediately sprang into action, rushing down the track on foot, as well as using ATVs and trucks, determined to assist the drivers and evaluate the situation.
“Both drivers are okay,” was the reassuring message from the race track announcer once help reached the scene of the accident.
After confirming that the drivers had not sustained serious injuries, officials began the process of clearing the wrecked vehicles to allow the event to proceed.
Within an hour, racing resumed on the right lane of the track, albeit solo, as officials temporarily closed the lane where the accident occurred. However, they began to allow passes in that lane again shortly after determining that the crash was likely linked to the vehicle’s system or driver error rather than an issue with the track itself.
This incident is not unprecedented for IRL streamers; in 2023, another streamer, ExtraEmily, found herself in a shocking situation when her vehicle was rear-ended while she was live on Twitch.
