A Twitch streamer known as ‘IZIDORE’ has gained significant attention online after conducting a remarkable stunt involving a form of self-imposed torture using cold water. This act is viewed as one of the most extreme examples of content creation in the streaming community.

Over the years, Twitch streamers have engaged in unique and often outrageous activities to attract viewers. For instance, popular streamer Ludwig famously spent more than two days locked inside a glass box to raise funds for charity, while Norme purportedly set a world record by going without sleep for over 264 hours.

With such extreme feats previously demonstrated, it seemed challenging to top the creativity of Twitch broadcasts. Yet, IZIDORE managed to break new ground in April 2025.

During a live session, IZIDORE challenged viewers to donate a specific amount of bits, the platform’s virtual currency, in exchange for the chance to activate a system that dripped cold water onto his forehead.

Twitch streamer employs Chinese Water Torture technique for entertainment

This method, known as ‘Chinese Water Torture,’ has its origins in historical practices of psychological pressure, first documented in Bologna, Italy, during the 15th and 16th centuries. It has since become embedded in modern pop culture, partly due to popular media exploring such themes, including a notable episode of the show Mythbusters in 2005, where the effectiveness of the technique was put to the test.

In a bold move, IZIDORE allowed his audience to contribute to his discomfort, ultimately achieving nearly 500,000 views during his broadcast on April 12.

Utilizing a custom-built device, the streamer ensured that the intensity of the water dripping depended directly on the amount of bits he received, and he continued this challenge for a grueling sixteen hours.

Remarkably, despite engaging in what is traditionally perceived as torture, IZIDORE appeared to enjoy the experience. After surpassing the 16-hour mark, he enthusiastically declared, “That was so fun, chat. The outcome was way better than expected.”

This event is just one of many adventurous stunts IZIDORE has executed during his streaming career. His previous streams include challenges like “consuming 100 chicken nuggets” and even spending 24 hours locked in a cage—the latter a feat once attempted by another streamer for an astonishing 30 days in 2019.
