In a significant drug bust, two football players from the University of Regina have been arrested after law enforcement officials confiscated a large quantity of fentanyl. The players, Tarick Polius, 24, and Michael Jourdan, 21, both originally from Toronto, are part of a group of five individuals now facing drug-related charges.

According to the University of Regina, both Polius and Jourdan were members of the Rams football team during the 2024 season and have since been suspended from their team duties. This development comes after an extensive four-month investigation that led police to carry out searches last week in Regina and in the southeastern Saskatchewan towns of Alameda and Frobisher.

Significant Findings

During these operations, authorities seized 7.5 kilograms of fentanyl, along with smaller amounts of cocaine and methamphetamine. Additionally, police recovered over $150,000 in cash, two handguns, and three vehicles. The total estimated value of the confiscated drugs and other items is approximately $1.5 million.

Other suspects arrested in connection with this investigation include Emmanuel Ramadan Bashir, 36, and Randal Lee Racette, 44, both from Regina, as well as Morteza Ahadi, 32, from Alameda.

This incident adds to the growing concerns about drug activity and its prevalence within communities across Canada, reflecting a broader national dialogue on the issue.
