The iconic reality show Survivor is set to celebrate a significant milestone, marking its 50th season, and this time, the fans will play a crucial role in shaping the game’s structure. During a screening event for Season 48, host Jeff Probst announced that for the first time, viewers will have the opportunity to vote on various elements of the game, making Season 50 a unique interactive experience.

The bank of fan decisions will be finalized before the filming of the new season begins. The cast of returning contestants — details of which will be revealed later — will remain unaware of the changes determined by fan input until they enter the game. The premiere of this landmark season is scheduled for February 2026, and today marks the commencement of a year-long series of celebrations leading up to it.

Voting will allow fans to influence pivotal aspects of the game, such as whether the fire-making challenge will be retained, if immunity idols will be part of the gameplay, and whether a live reunion show will take place in Los Angeles or if the format will continue with a post-show filming in Fiji. As part of these celebrations, CBS has collaborated with Fiji Airlines to invite five fan groups, dubbed “tribes,” to Fiji for a firsthand look at the filming of the new season. This initiative highlights CBS’s commitment to acknowledging the dedication of its fan base.

According to CBS, this evolution aims to honor viewers for their loyal support over the last 25 years while also attracting new audiences. Probst himself expressed excitement for this new direction, referring to it as the next evolutionary step in Survivor history. He emphasized the significance of allowing fans to make impactful decisions regarding the gameplay, from game twists to advantages.

Mike Benson, CBS’s president and chief marketing officer, noted that empowering fans in this manner is groundbreaking for both the series and its audience. He also announced that CBS will be unveiling a year of special festivities leading to the 50th season, starting with the introduction of a Survivor-themed aircraft by Fiji Airways that will serve regular travelers alongside the show’s fans.

Voting Details for Survivor 50

The official voting process will commence on February 26, coinciding with the premiere of Season 48.

Voting Mechanics: Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans – From the premiere day of Season 48, fans can cast their votes on crucial gameplay elements at survivor50cbs.votenow.tv. This voting phase will conclude before filming commences for the 50th season.

CBS and Fiji Airways Collaboration – CBS is partnering with Fiji Airways to reward five lucky fan groups, consisting of friends and family with exclusive trips to Fiji during the filming of Survivor 50.
