As rideshare services continue to gain popularity, it’s a poignant reminder to passengers to keep an eye on their belongings before exiting the vehicle. In its latest lost and found index, Uber highlights the most commonly forgotten items, alongside some of the more peculiar belongings left behind over the previous year, such as ozempic, Shrek ears, and even divorce papers.

According to Uber’s findings, New York City emerged as the most forgetful location in the United States for 2022. For those who have experienced leaving a mobile phone in a rideshare vehicle, rest assured that approximately 1.7 million riders fell into the same predicament over the last year. The phone topped the list as the most frequently forgotten item, followed closely by wallets and keys.

If you happen to misplace an item, particularly your phone, Uber recommends accessing your account via a computer to get in touch with your driver regarding the lost item.

The rideshare giant also identified recurring themes among the lost belongings, including misplaced legal documents, expensive liquors, vinyl records, Nintendo Switch consoles, yoga accessories, Philadelphia Eagles merchandise, and a striking trend of red items. In fact, over 8,000 items in various shades of red were reported lost, making it the most common color among forgotten possessions.

Additionally, Uber provided insights suggesting that certain items tend to be lost more frequently on specific days of the week. For instance, cowboy hats are notably left behind most often on Saturdays, although no specific statistics were shared to clarify the prevalence of this occurrence.

Moreover, Uber compiled a list of 50 “most unique” items reported as lost by riders, showcasing a fascinating variety:
