Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim is scheduled to address the public on Sunday afternoon in response to the tragic events that unfolded at the Lapu Lapu festival the previous night.
Sim’s remarks will be made alongside officials from the Vancouver Police Department and Vancouver Fire Rescue Services at 2 p.m. PT, with the address to be broadcast live.
According to confirmations from local authorities, eleven individuals tragically lost their lives, and many more sustained injuries when a man drove an SUV into a crowd at the Lapu Lapu Day festival in Vancouver on Saturday evening.
The suspect reportedly approached the festival area from East 43rd Avenue, driving into festival-goers. The event was primarily held on the grounds of a school situated at 41st Avenue and Fraser Street.

While no formal charges have been filed yet, police have taken a 30-year-old man into custody.
Interim Chief Constable Steve Rai of the Vancouver police indicated that the suspect is a local resident with a notable history of police encounters related to mental health challenges.
