Mensa begins his story by setting the scene. He was already inebriated aboard his tour bus in an undisclosed location when he decided to visit a club where a friend was spinning. He mentioned that he was also expected to perform there the following day.

Once he entered the VIP area, he was greeted with a blunt, a fifth of Dusse, and a bottle of Ace of Spades. It wasn’t long before he noticed a friend on the dance floor signaling for help. “So, I start going down there,” he reminisced. “He was like, ‘G, they just choked me and dragged me out of the club! And they’re not even security!’ I asked, ‘Who? Who did this to you?’”

After identifying the aggressors, Mensa recalls taking action, hitting one of them with the bottle of Ace of Spades. “I’m a nut, so I already had the bottle in hand,” he noted. “Boom! I crashed his ass. Immediately, all hell broke loose. I told you, I only got one friend in the building. Now this isn’t looking good. I’m getting socked like I’m in a cartoon fight scene.”

Once he managed to escape back to his hotel, Mensa received a call from a friend who informed him that the individuals he fought were associated with organized crime. “My man called me, who I didn’t even know was in that city at the time,” Vic recounted. “He said, ‘Man, that was the Italian mob. They’re gonna kill you!’”

Realizing the gravity of the situation, Mensa reached out to an associate back in Chicago for assistance. He relayed that to resolve the issue, he had to pay $10,000 to make amends and appeared at his booked performance the next night with heightened security measures. “In short, I get the bread, I pay the mob,” he explained. “Oh yeah, and that’s one of the reasons I’ve cut back on drinking.”

Recently, Vic has been on a journey towards sobriety, discussing the need to differentiate between fun and true joy on Instagram in 2023.
