Deb Mukherjee Remembered in Bollywood for His Artistic Contributions
Ayan Mukerji’s father, Deb Mukherjee, passed away on March 14, casting a shadow over the Bollywood community, which mourned the loss of a beloved figure. A prayer gathering was held in his honor, attended by many prominent actors, including Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, whose presence at the event garnered attention on social media.
In footage shared online, Vicky Kaushal can be seen arriving at the prayer meeting, dressed modestly in a denim shirt and trousers. He respectfully offered his condolences to the late Mukherjee, showcasing the camaraderie and support that exists within the film industry during difficult times. Ranbir Kapoor also made an appearance, further emphasizing the tight-knit nature of this community.
Deb Mukherjee was well-known in Bollywood circles, participating in numerous films such as Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Aansoo Ban Gaye Phool, Abhinetri, Do Aankhen, Baaton Baaton Mein, Kaminey, and Gudgudee. However, his influence extended beyond his film roles; he played an instrumental role in the cultural scene of Mumbai, particularly through organizing the North Bombay Durga Puja, a significant event that enriches the city’s festive spirit.
As discussions about Mukherjee’s legacy take place, attention also shifts to his son, Ayan Mukerji. The filmmaker is currently busy with the production of War 2, featuring stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Following this project, he is expected to dive into the pre-production phase for the highly anticipated sequel, Brahmastra 2.
Ranbir Kapoor recently provided insights on the progression of the sequel, highlighting Ayan’s long-standing vision for the project. Kapoor stated, “Brahmastra 2 is something that Ayan has been nurturing as a dream for a very long time. He is currently working on War 2. Once this releases, he will start pre-production of Brahmastra 2. It is definitely happening. We haven’t really announced much of it, but then some really interesting announcements (will be made soon) regarding Brahmastra 2.”
In parallel, Vicky Kaushal’s film, Chhaava, continues to dominate the box office landscape. As of its 29th day in cinemas, the historical epic has grossed over Rs 546 crore, demonstrating remarkable endurance against newer releases. This enduring performance aligns with reports from industry tracker Sacnilk, noting that Chhaava collected Rs 7.38 crore on March 14, marking its fourth Friday in theaters. The film’s total earnings for the week stand at Rs 55.95 crore, with substantial contributions from both its Hindi and Telugu versions.
