Vishal Dadlani Steps Down as Judge on Indian Idol: A Farewell to an Era
Vishal Dadlani, the renowned music composer, has announced his departure from the judging panel of Indian Idol, concluding his journey from season 10 through 15. Host Aditya Narayan described this moment as the ‘end of an era’ for the acclaimed singing competition.
Vishal Dadlani on Indian Idol: The renowned music composer recently confirmed that he will not be returning as a judge for the next season of Indian Idol. After the finale of Indian Idol 15, Dadlani shared a heartfelt behind-the-scenes video featuring playful moments with fellow judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah, marking his final episode on the show. He cited a desire to refocus on music production and concert performances, explaining that the extended commitment in Mumbai had become untenable for him.
In the farewell video, Dadlani exuded warmth as he reflected on his six seasons with Indian Idol. He expressed gratitude to his colleagues and the production team, saying, “That’s all from me, folks! After six consecutive seasons, tonight marks my last episode as a judge. I hope the show will miss me as much as I will miss it. A big thank you to Shreya, Badshah, Adi, Aradhana, Chitra, Anand ji, and everyone who has contributed. This stage has truly been a second home for me.”
In a poignant social media post, Dadlani conveyed that the memories created over the six seasons were irreplaceable and that he would miss his colleagues more than the fun they shared. “Alvida, yaaro. The joy I experienced over these six seasons is something I will cherish forever. I’m eternally grateful for the love and support from everyone connected to the show. It’s time for me to reclaim my time, as I can no longer stay in Mumbai for half of each year!” he shared, adding his excitement for a revival of his music pursuits. “It’s #VishalAndSheykhar season now! Jai ho!”
Aditya Narayan, the host of Indian Idol, responded to Dadlani’s announcement with a nostalgic comment, noting that the show would greatly feel his absence. Fellow judge Badshah echoed these sentiments, wishing Dadlani well, while Hazel Keech shared her heartfelt feelings about the emotional clips used in Dadlani’s farewell message.
Throughout his time on Indian Idol, spanning from season 10 to season 15, Vishal Dadlani also contributed as a judge on the kids’ version, Indian Idol Junior, for its first two seasons.
In other news, Manasi Ghosh, a talented 24-year-old from Kolkata, was crowned the winner of Indian Idol 15. She captured the prestigious title along with a cash prize of Rs 25 lakhs and a new car, triumphing over fellow contestants Subhajit Chakraborty and Sneha Shankar.
