Vivek Agnihotri condemned the Pahalgam attack, where Lashkar-linked terrorists killed 27 tourists.
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has voiced his deep shock following a tragic terrorist assault in Pahalgam. In an exclusive interview with CNN-News18 on Tuesday evening, he revealed that he had a premonitory feeling about an impending attack, stating, “I had an instinct that something was going to happen.”
Agnihotri firmly denounced the brutal attack, emphasizing his horror at the militants’ approach to asking tourists about their religious identities before the shooting commenced. He remarked, “This is targeted killing,” reflecting his concern over the specific nature of the assault. The filmmaker is widely recognized for his works, including The Kashmir Files.
Reports indicate that the attack was carried out by terrorists affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, who opened fire on a gathering of tourists in Pahalgam on Tuesday afternoon. As of now, over 27 fatalities have been confirmed. Eyewitness accounts describe how two to three assailants, clad in military uniforms, emerged and began firing indiscriminately at tourists who were enjoying a day at Baisaran Meadows on horseback. The Resistance Front (TRF), a faction associated with Lashkar, has claimed responsibility for this heinous act.
In response to the attack, security forces quickly mobilized to the site, initiating a comprehensive anti-terror operation aimed at apprehending those responsible. Disturbing footage from the scene shows victims lying motionless and injured, while terrified bystanders, including women, searched desperately for their loved ones.
On another note, Vivek Agnihotri is in the midst of producing The Delhi Files, which will complete his Files trilogy that also features The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. The initial installment of The Delhi Files, named Bengal Chapter, is set to debut on Independence Day 2025.
While discussing The Delhi Files, Agnihotri previously stated, “If The Kashmir Files disturbed you, The Delhi Files will destroy you—because my life’s mission is to tell the darkest, most buried, untold truths of our history, no matter how uncomfortable they are.”
