“Nobody Move,” the lead single from the upcoming deluxe reissue of Guns Don’t Kill People, Lazers Do, is set to be released this Friday, marking an exciting moment for fans of both Major Lazer and Jamaican dancehall music.
Major Lazer is gearing up to celebrate the anniversary of their debut album with this reissue, which features a collaboration with renowned Jamaican artist Vybz Kartel. This release follows a significant moment in Kartel’s life; just three months ago, his 10-year prison sentence stemming from a 2014 murder conviction was overturned. The conviction was annulled earlier this year after Kartel appealed on the grounds that there were allegations of jury tampering involved in his original trial. An appeals court ultimately declined to mandate a retrial, signaling a turning point for the artist. Following this news, Kartel celebrated his newfound freedom with a spirited post on Instagram, although it has since been removed.

This isn’t the first time Kartel has worked with Major Lazer. He previously contributed to the track “Pon de Floor,” the third single off the original album, as well as the opening track “You’re No Good” from their second album, Free The Universe. Despite his incarceration for the past decade, Kartel has maintained an active musical career, releasing multiple albums and singles even while behind bars.
In addition to “Nobody Move,” the deluxe reissue will include a collaboration with MIA titled “Where’s The Baby,” as well as an instrumental track named “Pon de Streets.” Set to be released on November 15, the album will also make its vinyl debut, allowing collectors and fans to experience the classic record in a new format. The reissue is currently available for pre-order, generating considerable anticipation among fans.
