Walton Goggins Reflects on His Journey in The White Lotus
Walton Goggins recently shared his emotional response upon learning that he would portray the character Rick Hatchet in the highly acclaimed third season of The White Lotus, created by Mike White. The news brought him to tears, prompting a heartfelt call to his wife, Nadia Conners.
“It’s like a golden ticket for me,” Goggins articulated during an interview with You Magazine. “More importantly, it signifies a chance to embark on a journey born from [White’s] creative vision. I find what fascinates him equally compelling.”
Goggins, known for his emotional depth, emphasized his ability to express feelings openly. “I often find myself crying with friends, sharing moments with my wife. My profession enables me to connect with my feelings constantly, a blessing I’ve cherished throughout my career.”
Returning to Thailand for the filming was particularly poignant for Goggins, who once traveled there with his mother following the tragic loss of his first wife in 2004. “It was challenging to be back,” he recalled. “I was telling a different story that surprisingly resonated with my personal experiences. Many individuals can relate to the pain of trauma, which often shapes their narratives. The choice to either move forward or remain stuck is a universal struggle.”
Goggins expressed relief that the finale of The White Lotus is finally released to audiences. “I’m so relieved [the finale is] out in the world. Engaging in discussions with others about it has been uplifting. For the first time in a long while, I can truly exhale. Rick Hatchett was a heavy role to shoulder.”
Currently, Goggins is also involved in the fourth and final season of the HBO comedy series The Righteous Gemstones and is busy filming the second season of the Prime Video series Fallout.
“I can confidently say that the first season of Fallout was remarkable,” he stated to Deadline. “However, [Season 2] raises the bar even higher thanks to the incredible writers and artists collaborating to bring this story to life. I’m thrilled for audiences to experience it. We’re fully committed to making that happen.”
