Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 5 Reloaded Update: A Disappointing Response from Players
Following the release of the Season 5 Reloaded update for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, many players are left questioning the significance of the changes made in the patch. Despite allocating several hours to explore the new features, community feedback suggests that expectations for substantial improvements were not met.
In the multiplayer arena, the mid-season update brought four fresh game modes, introduced an alternate version of the Stash House map, and performed weapon re-balancing. However, these additions have not completely satisfied the player base.
Warzone welcomed the return of the Supreme Resurgence mode, along with the introduction of elite contracts and a public UAV event. Raven Software’s attempts to recalibrate weapon balance—specifically nerfing the STG44 and Static-HV—appear to have been ineffective, as data indicates both weapons continue to dominate in gameplay.
As part of Season 5 Reloaded, players are also introduced to two new weapons: the Torque 35, a bow and arrow with the capability of pinning adversaries against walls, and a spear, a throwable melee weapon that offers close-combat options. However, the community’s initial feedback on these additions has not been favorable.
ModernWarzone reached out on social media for player impressions about the update, and the response was predominantly critical. Many players expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of impactful changes.
One player notably remarked, “What did they even do?” while others voiced frustrations over the absence of a new 6v6 multiplayer map and the perceived ineffectiveness of the newly released weapons against established meta choices.
Another player succinctly expressed their disappointment, describing the update as “the worst ever,” lamenting the missing 6v6 maps and dismissing the new weapons as subpar.
Feedback regarding the spear indicates that it does not meet player expectations, particularly due to its sluggish movement. If players fail to recover the spear after throwing it, they find themselves without a weapon in that slot until additional ammunition is discovered. Furthermore, even when charged, the spear’s throwing velocity is considered insufficient.
On the other hand, the Torque 35 is praised for its quick reload speed; however, it falls into the launcher category, making the search for additional ammunition cumbersome once players are depleted.

Moreover, players expressed irritations over the removal of Solos and Quads from the Resurgence mode, making it challenging for solo players who wish to engage without a team. One user articulated the struggle succinctly, stating, “No solo resurgence… no quads resurgence… weekly challenges are focused around fortunes keep which is only on trios.”
While Raven Software retains the option to enhance the performance of the new weapons in future updates and modify playlist offerings weekly, the initial reception of the Season 5 Reloaded update indicates a general sentiment of disappointment among the player community.
