Nexus W2V Secures $75 Million Investment to Launch Waste-to-Energy Facility in Indiana

CHICAGO, Dec. 10, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — Nexus W2V, a prominent player in waste-to-value infrastructure development, has successfully closed a significant $75 million structured equity investment from Orion Infrastructure Capital (OIC). This funding, alongside contributions from Nexus Holdings, Khasma Capital, Sterling Bank, and Ameris Bank, has enabled Nexus W2V to initiate the construction of the Kingsbury Bioenergy Complex in La Porte, Indiana. This facility aims to convert source-separated organic materials into renewable natural gas (RNG).

Ben Hubbard, CEO of Nexus Holdings, emphasized the growing urgency of waste management issues, stating, “As national waste levels rise and legislative measures adapt to promote change, Nexus W2V is stepping up to provide cost-effective waste disposal options that benefit energy production and the environment.” This statement underscores the pivotal role of the company in addressing current waste management challenges.

The Kingsbury Bioenergy Complex exemplifies Nexus W2V’s focus on transforming organic waste into useful resources such as renewable natural gas, compost, and biochar. The company is backed by a team of seasoned professionals with extensive experience in waste management, energy development, and regenerative agriculture.

Chris Leary, an Investment Partner and Head of Infra Equity at OIC, commented on the partnership, stating, “With our new collaboration, Nexus W2V is poised to deliver state-of-the-art projects in the waste-to-value arena across North America. OIC is eager to support the implementation of these innovative solutions that promote sustainable waste diversion and reduced emissions.” This partnership reflects a strong commitment to sustainable development practices in the industry.

Located approximately 70 miles from Chicago, the Kingsbury Bioenergy Complex is anticipated to process around 200 tons of organic waste daily, generating RNG and other coproducts. The RNG produced will be integrated into Northern Indiana’s existing natural gas pipeline network, bolstering the area’s renewable energy capabilities. The facility is projected to be operational by late 2026 and is expected to create about 35 jobs in La Porte, enhancing local economic prospects.

Roshan Vani, CEO of Nexus W2V, articulated the importance of the facility, stating, “The Kingsbury Bioenergy Complex will provide a sustainable organic waste disposal solution for the greater Chicago area and western Indiana. This is just the beginning; our plans include a suite of waste-to-value projects across the country, serving as a template for future initiatives in the sector.”
