Ben Forster, a renowned performer from the West End, is set to debut his latest studio album, Musical’s Greatest Hits, on October 10th, under the banner of Westway Music.
This album, featuring the talented BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, promises to reimagine some of musical theatre’s most celebrated hits. Forster’s remarkable vocal prowess and emotional resonance will breathe fresh life into these classic songs, crafting a cinematic experience that pays homage to a genre that has significantly influenced his career. Notably, this album marks the first time these interpretations will be available to the public, despite Forster’s previous acclaim in Jesus Christ Superstar and The Phantom of the Opera both on the West End and internationally.
In discussing the forthcoming album, Forster expressed his excitement, stating, “A lifelong ambition is finally coming true. I’ve always dreamed of creating a full orchestral album, and now it’s actually happening. It’s one of the biggest highlights of my career. I’m beyond thrilled to be bringing this body of work to life with an extraordinary team. The amazing BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra is lending their incredible talent to this project and the sound they’ve created is nothing short of breathtaking. Forster gained widespread recognition after triumphing on the television show Superstar, a talent contest devised by Andrew Lloyd Webber to cast the role of Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar. His victory led him to perform the role in an internationally acclaimed arena tour alongside notable artists like Melanie C and Tim Minchin. Over time, Forster has become a significant figure in British theatre, with memorable performances in productions such as Evita, The Rocky Horror Show, and a distinguished portrayal of the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera. He is expected to reprise this role in an upcoming world tour.
