Graham Criticizes Republicans Supporting Harris’ Presidential Bid

On Sunday, South Carolina GOP Senator Lindsey Graham expressed strong disapproval of fellow party members who have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign. During an appearance on NBC News’ “Meet the Press,” Graham asked, “What the hell are you doing?” in reference to their support.

Graham characterized Harris as “the most radical nominee in the history of American politics,” underscoring his belief that her policies pose a significant threat to the nation. He stated, “The danger to this country is the policies of Biden and Harris. Her fingerprints are all over this disaster. And I can’t take four more years of this crap.”

In recent weeks, a number of prominent Republicans, including former GOP Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, as well as various former Trump administration officials, have endorsed Harris, which Graham criticized vehemently.

The senator’s remarks were made amid rising tensions within the Republican Party regarding former President Donald Trump’s increasingly provocative rhetoric. Moderator Kristen Welker questioned Graham about Trump’s recent comments labeling Democrats as “the enemy from within,” a phrase he employed multiple times during a recent rally in Coachella, California, where he targeted Congressman Adam Schiff.

Despite the backlash from Democratic circles regarding Trump’s comments, the former president continued to use the term in subsequent interviews and podcast appearances. Trump emphasized his notion of internal threats, asserting on the “OutKick” podcast, “We have a bigger problem from within and they hate it.”

In response to the scrutiny surrounding Trump’s statements, Graham downplayed their significance. He declared, “We’re winning, and going to win, not because of what Donald Trump’s saying, but because of what they’ve done for four years.”

Graham pointed out that the electorate is craving a shift in policy direction as the election approaches. He highlighted Harris’ response to a question about potential changes to the Biden administration by noting, “When Vice President Harris is asked, ‘What would you do different?’ she says, ‘Nothing comes to mind.’” This comment referenced a recent exchange Harris had on “The View,” which attracted criticism from conservatives.

This exchange exemplifies the criticisms faced by the Biden administration as both parties prepare for the upcoming election cycle. Graham’s reflections suggest a significant divide within the GOP as they navigate their strategies in the face of shifting political landscapes.
