In this exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Aaliyah Qureishi opens up about the uncertain fate of Bandish Bandits Season 3, revealing showrunner Anand Tiwari’s candid response to her question about a happy ending for Ananya.

Will Bandish Bandits make a comeback for a third season? Aaliyah Qureishi shares insights on showrunner Anand Tiwari’s vision, the subtle influence of Ananya, and the possibility that the show may have reached its conclusion.

Fans of Bandish Bandits are continuously asking the burning question—will there be a Season 3? Since its debut on Prime Video in 2020, the series struck a distinct chord with viewers by melding classical music with contemporary relationships and emotional depth. The second season expanded upon this universe, delivering unresolved character arcs and emotional moments that have lingered with audiences. For Aaliyah Qureishi, who portrayed the introspective and emotionally complex Ananya, the future of the series might already be determined.

“Honestly, I don’t think there’s going to be a Season 3,” Aaliyah expressed in her exclusive interview with News18 Showsha. “While filming Season 2, Anand Sir made it clear that it would be the final chapter. He felt he had conveyed everything he wanted regarding these characters, and I respect that decision.”

This admission may bring a bittersweet sense of acceptance for those yearning for closure. However, Aaliyah finds value in the uncertainty. “Sure, some plots were left hanging—some character arcs were unfulfilled—but that’s how life goes, right? Not every relationship achieves closure, and not every love story wraps up in an ideal way.”

Aaliyah reflects on the show’s ending with a sense of artistic integrity, seeing it not as a story left unfinished but as a creative choice. Recalling a pivotal moment from the series, she described a scene around a bonfire filled with unsaid emotions. She revealed that during this time, she directly questioned Anand Tiwari, asking why her character did not conclude with a happy ending. He responded, “You’re not just lovers—you’re artists. That’s the essence of it.”

This response has profoundly resonated with her. “We often expect conventions from romantic comedies and neatly tied endings, but Bandish Bandits was never intended to follow those norms. It was centered on music, art, and making significant choices beyond mere romance.”

Should a third season materialize, Aaliyah knows what she envisions for Ananya’s character. “I would love for her to find happiness. But beyond that, I want to see her artistic journey unfold. Regardless of romance, I wish for her to evolve, thrive, and find inner peace.”

In recent times, with a resurgence of interest in the show, Ananya has emerged as a quiet favorite among fans. Though not the most outspoken character, she embodied vulnerability and relatability that resonated with viewers. When asked if Ananya overshadowed Tamanna, Aaliyah diplomatically commented.

“I wouldn’t claim that, to be honest. Both characters hold distinctive significance in the narrative and in Radhe’s life.” She understands why audiences empathize with Ananya. “People naturally root for the underdog, and that’s likely why she resonates so much. She embodies the lonely heart, feeling unreciprocated love—a sentiment many can relate to on a universal level.”

What touched her most were the heartfelt messages she received. “When someone tells me, ‘You captured my experience—I’ve lived that,’ it’s incredibly fulfilling. It stands as the highest compliment one can receive as an actor.”

Regardless of whether Ananya was intended to prevail, Aaliyah believes the character fulfilled her purpose. “I hope Ananya carved out a space in people’s hearts—even for those who might favor Tamanna.”

The notion of stepping away from a beloved character can be challenging, yet Aaliyah articulates a grounded perspective. “I understand fans’ desire for more—and I relate to that. However, there’s beauty in stories concluding when they reach their natural end, avoiding overstaying their welcome.”

For her, Bandish Bandits didn’t require dramatic twists or romantic resolutions to resonate. “Not every character needs a definitive conclusion. Often, the most poignant stories leave a lingering sense of longing.”

As she embarks on new projects like Nadaaniyan, along with her original music and a growing audience, Ananya’s essence remains with her. “She has imparted invaluable lessons on gentleness, resilience, and the importance of enduring hardship,” she shares. “If this marks the end of her journey, I embrace that. And if it’s not… well, I’m ready to reconnect with her.”
