Prince George Accompanies Prince William to Soccer Match in Paris
Recently, Prince William and Kate Middleton took their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, on a ski holiday in the French Alps. However, it was only Prince George who had the opportunity to join his father at a soccer match in Paris on April 9. This decision has sparked curiosity about the reasoning behind it.
According to royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, the age of the children plays a significant role in such parental choices. “It is due to age and the fact that it is a balance,” he explained to GB News. At present, George is 11 years old, while Charlotte is 9 and Louis is 6. However, both Charlotte and Louis will have birthdays in the near future, indicating that their involvement in royal outings may increase as they mature.
Adding to the rationale for George’s attendance at the match, Fitzwilliams noted George’s strong interest in soccer, stating, “Equally, George is obviously very keen [on soccer].” He emphasized the importance of selecting someone passionate about the event, as this enhances the overall experience. Bringing George along not only delighted the young prince but also positively contributed to the public perception of the royal family.
Fitzwilliams further elaborated that maintaining a balance between formal royal engagements and more casual outings is crucial for upholding the royal image. Considering the dynamics of royal appearances, he asserted, “It is important for the royal image that you have this balance between showing who you are, and then certain events that are more formal.”
This outing with George marks a notable difference in parenting styles between Prince William and his father, King Charles. Fitzwilliams pointed out, “Charles did not project the sort of exuberance that William is passing on to George. This is a new persona within the royal family, as Charles is of a different temperament.” He continued to suggest that an enthusiasm for popular sports like soccer aids in fostering a deeper connection between the royal family and the public.
Speaking about his day with George, William articulated the significance of creating lasting memories. He said, “I think those memories are really important to create, and bringing him along tonight is a big deal for me,” as reported by The Telegraph.
