Mika Singh Reflects on Challenges of Working with Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover in Dangerous
In a recent revelation, singer Mika Singh expressed his discontent regarding his experience as a producer on the web series Dangerous, which featured actors Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover. Describing the project as a series of setbacks, he conveyed his regret over the complexities that emerged during production, emphasizing issues of professionalism and unexpected cost escalations.
Singh’s journey in the entertainment field has not been without difficulties, and during an interview with Pinkvilla, he elaborated on the turbulent time he faced while collaborating with the duo. He remarked, “Why do you think they’re out of work now? God is watching everything,” hinting at the struggles that arose during the production process.
The initial vision that Mika had for Dangerous was modest, aimed primarily at providing a platform for his music and featuring a budget of around ₹4 crore. However, as events unfolded, the budget soared to ₹14 crore. This shift was largely attributed to Basu’s insistence on joining the project, which Mika initially had not planned for. He recounted, “I was considering another actress, but she wanted to be a part of it.” The decision to include Basu marked the beginning of unforeseen challenges, particularly concerning the project’s budget and production logistics.
Bipasha’s participation brought about a variety of complications during filming. Mika noted that her demeanor on set created significant tension, saying, “The drama she created made me regret stepping into production.” He described situations where she placed demands on the production, contradicting previously agreed-upon scenes, particularly those involving romantic elements. “There were romantic scenes in the script—but suddenly, she started throwing tantrums, saying she wouldn’t do this or that,” he explained.
The difficulties continued through the post-production phase, where Mika faced obstacles that delayed the finalization of the series. He reported that despite meeting all payment obligations, the dubbing process became lengthy, citing frequent ailments as excuses for postponements. “One day, Bipasha had a sore throat. The next, Karan was unwell. There was always some excuse,” he lamented.
Reflecting on broader industry practices, Mika voiced his disappointment at what he perceives as a lack of respect from some actors towards independent producers. He remarked, “These out-of-work actresses complain about bad luck, but they should learn to respect producers who bring them opportunities. They’re your god.” It’s a sentiment that underscores a recurring issue in the industry—questions of values and respect for those who contribute to bringing projects to life.
In conclusion, Mika Singh reminisced about his own career journey, highlighting the significance of professionalism and dedication. He credited his enduring success in the industry to an unwavering work ethic and a humble attitude. “Success doesn’t come overnight—you have to love your work,” he stated, emphasizing the essence of commitment and hard work in his professional life.
