Tori Spelling Reflects on Unreleased Sex Tape with Dean McDermott
In an unexpected twist, Tori Spelling has revealed that she actually wishes a sex tape she made with her estranged husband, Dean McDermott, had been publicly released. Spelling shared these sentiments on a recent episode of her misSPELLING podcast, where she was in conversation with singer Aubrey O’Day.
The former couple, who were married in 2006, filmed the tape during Valentine’s Day while they were featured on their reality show Tori & Dean, which aired from 2007 to 2012. Spelling recounted that while in New York, McDermott visited her during a movie shoot and suggested they film a private moment together.
“We had never done it before,” Spelling noted, emphasizing that at the time they were already a few years into marriage and had two children. However, a major security lapse occurred; during a family trip to Hawaii, a guest who McDermott believed was a friend discovered the footage on his computer. This individual subsequently attempted to sell the tape to an adult film company.
When the adult film company reached out to Spelling and McDermott to inform them of the situation, they clarified that they had not accepted the offer for the video. “I’m like, ‘Why? Were my angles not good?’” Spelling humorously responded to the inquiry. Following this, the couple felt compelled to take legal action against the individual attempting to exploit their private moments.
When pressed by O’Day about whether she thought the leak of the tape could have been beneficial for her career, Spelling affirmed her belief in the idea. “Of course. I don’t believe in regrets,” she stated candidly. Reflecting on her past, she expressed regret over declining a cover opportunity with Playboy. “Now, at 51, I wish I’d been on the cover of f***ing Playboy. … I was doing [the tape] with my husband and we were together. Yeah, I should have f***ing let that sex tape go out,” she concluded, showcasing a blend of regret and acceptance about her past choices.
