An alarming incident unfolded on Tuesday when officers from the California Highway Patrol and the LAPD intervened in a hit-and-run case.
Jillian Lauren, better known as Jillian Shriner, the spouse of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was involved in a police shooting on the same day and has since been charged with attempted murder.
As reported by the Los Angeles Police Department, the events began in the afternoon when the California Highway Patrol requested assistance in finding three suspects linked to misdemeanor hit-and-run incidents. The suspects had fled into a residential area in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles. LAPD officers were searching near a home where one suspect was spotted. It was at this point that Shriner allegedly emerged from a nearby yard while armed with a handgun. Despite repeated commands from the police to drop her weapon, she reportedly aimed the gun at the officers. This led to an exchange of gunfire, during which Shriner was struck and retreated into her home.
She was subsequently apprehended and transported to a local hospital, where she received treatment for a gunshot wound that was deemed non-life-threatening. Notably, Shriner had no involvement in the hit-and-run incident that initiated the police response. Following her release from the hospital, she was booked for attempted murder, and authorities recovered a 9mm handgun from her residence.
No immediate comments were available from Shriner’s manager when approached by Rolling Stone.
Jillian Shriner is also an accomplished author, having published her first memoir, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem, in 2010, and her second, Everything You Ever Wanted, in May 2015. Both works have made it to the New York Times bestseller list.
