The 15th annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards showcased impressive talent in the music supervision realm on Sunday, held at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. Among the standout winners were the music supervisors for “Wicked,” “A Complete Unknown,” and “I Saw the TV Glow,” each taking home the top honors across various budget categories.
“Wicked” earned accolades for Best Music Supervision in the Major Budget Films category, while “A Complete Unknown” triumphed in the mid-level budget segment. “I Saw the TV Glow” was recognized as the best in the low-budget category, highlighting the diverse range of film productions represented at the event.
In addition to these awards, “The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat” won the honor for non-theatrically released films, further emphasizing the significance of musical contributions across different platforms.
A particularly notable moment during the ceremony was the performance of the Oscar-nominated song “Like a Bird” from “Sing Sing.” This performance served as a pointed response to the Academy Awards’ controversial decision not to present live renditions of nominated songs. Alongside “Like a Bird,” two additional songs were also performed, showcasing the importance of live music within the film industry.
Television categories saw winners including “Baby Reindeer,” “English Teacher,” and “Love Island USA,” among others, illustrating the strong pairing of music and storytelling in TV productions.
