On Monday morning, residents of Winnipeg and southern Manitoba were greeted with a significant snowfall, accumulating between 15 and 20 centimeters. According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, the winter weather is not expected to relent anytime soon.
Meteorologist Chris Stammers informed 680 CJOB’s The Start that while more snow is on the horizon, it will not be as heavy as what fell on Sunday night. “It continues to snow; we’ll be looking at some light snow for today and even a chance of more tonight, with another one to two centimeters expected tomorrow,” he stated.
Stammers noted a change in intensity, saying, “Nothing like the heavy wet stuff that was coming down yesterday… but we can anticipate some light snow for the next 24 to 36 hours.” Following this recent weather system, residents should prepare for a sharp drop in temperatures, with forecasts predicting lows in the minus-20s by Wednesday night.

As cold air moves in, Stammers warned of severe wind chill factors. “Wind chills will be around -37, with temperatures nearing -30 overnight Thursday, and wind chills could reach -40.”
Given this forecast, extreme cold warnings may be issued across the province. Stammers advised that if not Wednesday, definitely Thursday will see these severe wind chill warnings due to the anticipated extreme temperatures.
