The Winnipeg Sea Bears have strengthened their roster by signing power forward Jaylin Williams from the NBA G League as they prepare for the upcoming 2025 season.

This signing aims to create immediate synergy on the court, as Williams previously played alongside Tevian Jones on the Grand Rapids Gold in the NBA G League. Before going pro, the 24-year-old had a notable stint in the NBA Summer League with the Denver Nuggets and developed a commendable career at Auburn University.

“I’m excited to join the Winnipeg Sea Bears for the 2025 season,” Williams expressed in a statement. “I’m eager to elevate my performance alongside this talented group and bring my energy and adaptability to the frontcourt.”

He further shared his enthusiasm about reuniting with Jones, stating, “We have established solid chemistry, and I believe this will enhance our performance in Winnipeg. I’m determined to bring my best to the Sea Bears, strive for a championship, and deliver something special to the fans.”

During his time at Auburn, Williams accumulated 114 victories, making him the winningest player in the program’s history. He also holds the record for the most games played at Auburn, with 141 appearances. In his recent season with the Gold, he averaged 8.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.2 assists across 35 games, before their season concluded last weekend.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jaylin Williams, who adds both talent and athleticism to our frontcourt,” remarked Mike Taylor, the Sea Bears’ general manager and head coach. “His successful performances in Grand Rapids and at Auburn indicate that his skill set and versatility in both the power forward and center roles will translate effectively in Winnipeg and within the CEBL.”

He also highlighted the advantage of continuity, noting, “The familiarity between Tevian and Jaylin from their time with the Gold this past season will be beneficial as we construct our team in Winnipeg.”

Williams, who stands six feet eight inches tall and weighs 245 pounds, becomes the sixth player under contract for the Sea Bears, with the season’s start now just six weeks away.
