Tragic Accident Claims Life of Young Woman at Delhi Amusement Park
A tragic incident occurred at an amusement park in southwest Delhi, where a 24-year-old woman, Priyanka Rawat, lost her life after falling from a rollercoaster. The accident happened at approximately 6:15 PM on Friday while Rawat was enjoying the ride with her fiancé, Nikhil Singh.
Reports indicate that the couple was part of a larger group, with at least 16 others on the ride at the time. Rawat, an insurance professional from the Chanakyapuri local area, fell from a height of about 20 feet at the Fun N Food Water & Amusement Park. Eyewitness accounts state that the incident occurred just moments after the ride commenced.
Surendra Choudhary, a deputy police commissioner, reported that Singh stated, “As the ride started, Priyanka fell off, resulting in critical injuries.” Following the incident, the amusement park promptly shut down the rollercoaster.
Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation, questioning ride operators, supervisors, and the operations manager to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. A mechanical inspection of the rollercoaster has also been deemed necessary.
Despite the tragedy, the amusement park remained open on the following days, attracting a steady stream of visitors. Santokh Singh Chawla, the park’s owner, expressed condolences to Rawat’s family, emphasizing that this was the first fatal incident in the park’s 33-year history. He stated, “We are cooperating with police in the investigation and extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family.” Chawla also noted that they immediately transported Rawat to the hospital via their own ambulance.
The park promotes itself as a member of the World Water Park Association in the USA, claiming to offer a vast array of water slides and attractions suitable for all ages. However, unanswered questions remain regarding the routine safety protocols in place and the last inspection date prior to the accident.

The victim’s brother confirmed that Rawat had recently become engaged to Singh, a 26-year-old chef working in Cyprus, and they were planning to marry in the coming year. Singh, who had recently returned to Najafgarh, west Delhi, was reported to have expressed concerns about safety before boarding the ride. His sister recounted, “Nikhil said he was scared and asked the operator to ensure they would be safe. The operator reassured him with his 18 years of experience.” However, after a brief moment of closing his eyes, the screams revealed that something had gone horribly wrong.
Geetanjali Rawat, the victim’s sister, shared the family’s struggle and the crucial role Priyanka played in their financial stability, noting that she had been supporting the household and paying for her brother’s college education as well as contributing to her sister’s planned marriage.
