Xgimi Unveils Enhanced Projectors: Aura 2 and MoGo 3 Pro
Xgimi has introduced a new version of its ultra-short throw projector, the Aura 2, which boasts a range of improvements over its predecessor. This model is designed to be smaller and lighter, increasing portability without sacrificing functionality. A standout feature is the automatic sliding cover that shields the projector’s lens, significantly reducing dust accumulation.
The Aura 2 can project images up to 150 inches in size while positioned close to a wall.
Xgimi reports that the Aura 2 delivers an impressive 2,300 ISO lumens of brightness, utilizing its innovative “Dual Light 2.0” light source that combines lasers and LEDs. This marks an increase from the 1,800 ISO lumens provided by the original Aura model, enhancing its performance in environments with ambient light. The Aura 2 is capable of projecting images that range in size from 90 to 150 inches diagonally, depending on its distance from the wall.
The redesigned Aura 2 has a slimmer profile, making it easier to incorporate into any home theater setup. Weighing just under 20 pounds, it is approximately five pounds lighter than the previous generation. This model also features four front-firing Harman Kardon speakers, each rated at 15W, and supports a variety of HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced.
The Aura 2 is equipped with a sliding cover that protects its lens from dust.
Setup has been streamlined with Xgimi’s image alignment tools, which facilitate the adjustment of the projected image according to the screen setup, even on non-flat walls. Additionally, when not in use, a motorized cover closes over the top of the projector to minimize dust exposure—a common challenge for ultra-short throw projectors where the lens typically faces upwards.
The Xgimi Aura 2 is currently available for $2,699, representing a $200 increase from the original model’s launch price in 2021.
The MoGo 3 Pro features a new pivoting design for enhanced setup flexibility.
With streaming apps pre-installed, including Netflix through Google TV, the MoGo 3 Pro offers flexible viewing options, although it also supports external streaming devices via a micro HDMI port. Additionally, it can function as a standalone speaker, featuring a music visualizer that projects lively colors in sync with the audio.
The MoGo 3 Pro can be utilized with an optional stand that includes an integrated battery.
This model incorporates a pair of 5W Harman Kardon speakers, suitable for small gatherings. However, unlike many portable projectors, it does not come with a built-in battery. To achieve true portability, users must purchase a compatible battery pack separately. Xgimi has introduced a versatile accessory called the Powerbase stand, which contains a rechargeable battery to power the projector.
The Xgimi MoGo 3 Pro is priced at $449, while the Powerbase stand costs $129. For budget-conscious consumers, a bundle option for both products is available at $499.
