What you need to know

A peculiar issue on YouTube Music has resulted in users being able to view their November Top Listener badges twice. With the December Top Listener badges just around the corner, it is likely that this glitch will be resolved when the new badges are officially rolled out. Top Listener badges serve as a fun and collectible way to highlight the artists users listen to most frequently.

In 2025, music streaming platforms face the challenge of not only providing high-quality audio but also crafting engaging and memorable experiences. Services like Spotify Wrapped and Apple Music Replay have set a standard for interactivity, and YouTube Music aims to compete with its own version of these features through the introduction of Top Listener badges. These badges are awarded to users who exhibit a high engagement level with specific artists, marking them as some of the platform’s most devoted listeners. However, subscribers are now encountering a bizarre glitch where their badges appear duplicated.

While YouTube Music typically allows users to earn new Top Listener badges every month, many are currently seeing their November badges pilfered into December’s slot. The issue was first highlighted by 9to5Google, noting that this glitch coincides with the release of the highly anticipated December badges.

YouTube Music badges indicate the percentile ranking of users among top listeners for particular artists. To view these badges, users can navigate to their profile and select the Badges tab. Here, they are likely to encounter repeated badges from November instead of new ones for December, thanks to this ongoing issue.

Similar to features offered by competing services like Spotify Wrapped or YouTube Music Recap, the Top Listener badges are also designed to be shared. Users have the option to create a shareable image card by clicking the three-dot menu on any badge and selecting Share, followed by Save image.

As pointed out by 9to5Google, it is anticipated that the bug will be addressed when the official December Top Listener badges are issued to users. YouTube Music typically dispatched November badges on December 2, 2024, suggesting that the new badges should be available shortly.
