Local YouTuber Unleashes Robot Minions on Town
A creative YouTuber has brought a playful twist to his community by deploying a fleet of small, AI-driven robots inspired by a beloved movie franchise. Known as Electo or Electoboy in the online realm, he invested considerable time and effort in developing an entire army of robot Minions reminiscent of Gru’s quirky yellow henchmen from the “Despicable Me” series.
The robots were designed to mimic their animated counterparts by wandering about erratically and intermittently emitting the whimsical gibberish commonly associated with the movie’s Minions. However, this random behavior posed challenges for Electo, who envisioned a more coordinated and chaotic spectacle.
To address this, Electo implemented a strategy to leash his mischievous yellow robots to a central leader, referred to as ‘King Bob.’ This specific Minion could be remotely controlled, and was equipped with a camera, providing Electo the ability to monitor the antics of his yellow army from King Bob’s viewpoint.
After weeks filled with 3D printing, sanding, painting, and fine-tuning the robots, Electo was finally ready to unveil his creation. His plan involved springing his robotic Minions on unsuspecting shoppers at a local mall, a move intended to generate amusement and surprise.
Initially, reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with many mall-goers expressing joy and curiosity about the robots. Some even inquired if these robotic Minions were for sale, demonstrating the community’s intrigue at this unexpected entertainment.
However, the enthusiasm was short-lived. Mall authorities soon intervened, informing Electo and his team that they had not secured permission to stage their experiment or document it within the premises.
Despite this setback, Electo remains undeterred. He has plans to enhance his Minion army further, potentially arming them for a larger-scale spectacle he whimsically dubbed a “robot battle royale.” This venture into outlandish tech experimentation is not unique to Electo; the online creative space has witnessed other similar escapades, like constructing vehicles from electric scooters and crafting a budget version of the Apple Vision Pro.
