YouTuber’s Controversial Adventure at the Great Wall of China
YouTuber ‘Arab’ and his companions faced potential legal consequences by paying a local villager to facilitate their unauthorized entry into a restricted area of the Great Wall of China.
Known for his adrenaline-fueled adventures, Arab has amassed over 1.89 million subscribers and has previously made headlines for daring escapades, including a harrowing experience in 2024 when he was kidnapped by gangs in Haiti and held for ransom.
On his latest international venture, the influencer aimed to explore China, pushing the envelope of personal freedom within a strictly regulated environment by entering a forbidden stretch of the Great Wall.
The Great Wall, a monumental structure with origins dating back to around 770 – 476 BCE, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While many tourists flock to its well-preserved segments, numerous parts have suffered erosion and are off-limits due to decay and government regulations aimed at preserving safety.
Unauthorized Entry by Bribing a Guard
Determined to access one of these restricted areas, Arab and his crew resorted to bribing a security guard, strategically downplaying the risks involved.
One member of the group allegedly offered the guard $200 to overlook their entry, fabricating a narrative that they were seasoned climbers who posed no risk.
“I had to pull out all my Chinese, bro,” shared the friend, detailing their conversation. He recounted how he emphasized their climbing credentials, claiming, “That guy climbed Mount Everest, and I climbed Kilimanjaro. We’re not going to get injured; look at our gear.” The guard eventually relented, presumably convinced by their enthusiasm.
Arab expressed pride over the crisp bills used for the bribe, claiming they were harder to refuse.
Once inside the restricted area, the group enjoyed sweeping views and even encountered fellow hikers, sharing drinks and camaraderie.

While defacing the Great Wall can lead to serious repercussions, including fines and possible detention, entering prohibited zones may result in being blacklisted from visiting it or other historic locations in the future.
While Arab avoided legal issues this time, another content creator was less fortunate. American YouTuber Mykhailo Polyakov faced arrest by Indian authorities after unlawfully stepping onto North Sentinel Island, which is home to uncontacted tribes.
