Zayn Malik Cancels Concert in Mexico Due to Food Poisoning

Zayn Malik has had to cancel a highly anticipated concert in Mexico, citing food poisoning as the cause. The show, which was scheduled for March 28, was to take place at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, part of his ongoing Stairway to the Sky Tour.

In a heartfelt message shared on his Instagram Stories just hours before the performance, the 32-year-old artist expressed his disappointment. “I’m heartbroken to say that I won’t be able to perform tonight in Mexico City,” he wrote. “I’ve been really sick since this morning and, despite trying everything to push through, my body just isn’t allowing it.”

Malik conveyed his empathy for his fans, stating, “I’m so sorry to let you down. The love and energy I always feel from my fans mean the world to me, and it hurts deeply to miss this moment with you. Thank you for your understanding, and please know I’m sending all of my love to each of you.”

Later that day, he provided an additional update regarding his condition. “Mexico, I love you even though myself and many of my crew got severe food poisoning,” he reiterated on Instagram Stories. “It’s no joke — still struggling. I’m so sorry.”

He further expressed his gratitude to his fans, saying, “To my fans, I’m so sorry — these shows have made me feel alive, happy, grateful and at home, and that’s all because of you. These shows, your energy, your fan projects filled me with so much love and a feeling I can’t even describe. Big love.”

This concert cancellation comes shortly after Malik delighted audiences with a special moment during a performance on March 25, when he surprised attendees by singing “Night Changes,” one of One Direction’s cherished hits, for the first time in a decade. “I haven’t sung this song in 10 years. Thank you, that was amazing, I almost cried,” he shared with the enthusiastic crowd.

Malik’s Stairway to the Sky Tour began in November 2024, following a postponement due to the passing of his former bandmate Liam Payne. The tour showcases Malik’s evolution as an artist while paying homage to his roots with One Direction.
