Zoë Kravitz Reflects on Channing Tatum After Their Engagement Ends
Even after recently ending their engagement, Zoë Kravitz has expressed admiration for her former fiancé, Channing Tatum. In a conversation with director Matt Reeves for a special feature in Variety, Kravitz revealed that Tatum was her immediate choice for the role of Slater King in her directorial debut, Blink Twice.
“The character needed to come across as someone trustworthy, especially since the audience must believe that Naomi [Ackie] is willing to get on that plane,” Kravitz elaborated. “I aimed to leverage Tatum’s charisma in a new way. It’s a side of him we’ve never seen before.”
Despite their breakup occurring just two months prior, Kravitz’s positive comments about Tatum are perhaps to be expected, given the reportedly amicable nature of their separation. This aspect of their split stands out in Hollywood, where relationships often end tumultuously. The actress and actor had been together for three years and engaged for one before parting ways earlier this fall.
According to a source speaking to Page Six, “There was no dramatic falling out between Channing and Zoë. They really just grew apart, realizing it was best to remain friends instead of romantic partners.” The source noted that both handled the breakup maturely.
After a period of relative quiet following the split, Kravitz made a bold return to the spotlight, appearing at the 2024 Gotham Awards in a striking cut-out dress. As for the future of their professional collaboration, that remains uncertain.
Reflecting on their time working together, Kravitz shared, “We had the opportunity to support one another through challenges, which was truly beautiful.” Tatum, at the Los Angeles premiere of Blink Twice, echoed her sentiment, stating, “Creating something with someone you love is one of the most rewarding experiences.”
